Product Overview
A stainless steel square bar is a solid equal-section bar used across fabrication, structural, and machining applications. At Click Metal, it is available in three grades — 303, 304, and 316 — each suited to different working environments. Select your size and grade, specify your length, and the bar will be cut to your exact measurements before dispatch.
Each grade has distinct properties. Grade 303 offers excellent machinability with good corrosion resistance, making it well-suited to turned components, threaded parts, and precision-machined assemblies. Grade 304 — the most widely used stainless steel — provides strong corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability across a wide range of applications. Grade 316, commonly referred to as marine grade, offers enhanced resistance to saltwater, chemicals, and aggressive environments.
Receiving a bar cut to your required length eliminates on-site cutting, reducing waste and improving accuracy throughout the project.
For larger commercial volumes, Click Metal's parent company, Dore Metals, can meet higher-quantity requirements. If you are unsure which grade is right for your application, get in touch and our team will be happy to advise.
Applications for Stainless Steel Square Bar
Structural Frameworks & Supports
- A square bar is commonly used as a structural element in fabricated frames, brackets, and support assemblies. Its consistent section profile provides predictable load-bearing behaviour, and stainless steel's corrosion resistance ensures reliable performance in both interior and externally exposed environments.
Marine Hardware & Boat Fittings
- Salt air and seawater accelerate corrosion in most standard metals. Grade 316 stainless steel square bar is the appropriate choice for marine hardware, including cleats, anchor components, and deck fittings, where long-term resistance to chloride exposure is required.
Food & Beverage Processing Equipment
- Hygiene standards in food production and processing environments require materials that are easy to clean, non-reactive, and resistant to repeated sterilisation. Grade 304 or 316 square bar is used in conveyor frames, storage structures, and processing machinery for precisely these reasons.
Machined Components & Turned Parts
- Grade 303's free-machining properties make it the practical choice for components that require drilling, turning, or threading to close tolerances. Typical parts include nuts, bolts, gears, and bushings, where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are important.
Chemical & Pharmaceutical Equipment
- Equipment used in chemical processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing must resist corrosive substances and support stringent hygiene requirements. A stainless steel square bar, particularly in grade 316, is used for equipment frames, reactor components, and processing structures in these sectors.
Architectural Metalwork & Cladding
- Square bars are used in architectural applications, including interior frameworks, decorative cladding supports, and structural accents. Grade 304 provides a clean, consistent finish and withstands standard atmospheric conditions without requiring additional surface treatment.
Machine Parts & Industrial Components
- In general engineering and manufacturing environments, stainless steel square bar is used for wear-resistant machine parts, guide rails, and mechanical assemblies. Its durability under load and resistance to surface degradation contribute to longer service intervals.
Automotive & Workshop Fabrication
- Roll cage components, suspension brackets, and engine bay fabrications all benefit from the combination of strength and corrosion resistance that stainless steel provides. Square bar is available in sizes suited to both small-scale workshop builds and light commercial fabrication.
